Driving in Chelmsford, and what it means for your tyres
The A12 runs along the eastern side of the city and carries a heavy flow between London, Colchester and the Suffolk ports. It is a road of fast stretches and sudden queues, and the stop-start around the Boreham and Hatfield Peverel junctions is where a lot of front tyre wear comes from.
Inside the city, the Army and Navy junction has been a byword for congestion since its flyover was removed, and the A1060 and A138 Chelmer Valley Road get busy every rush hour. A mobile fitting means not having to sit in it.
Chelmsford has no Clean Air Zone charge. Around the city, Essex lanes towards Danbury, Writtle and the Dengie peninsula are narrow, with ditches, potholes and plenty of farm traffic, so check for cuts and slow leaks after a run through the countryside.
Mobile tyre fitting in Chelmsford
Most Chelmsford homes have a drive, and newer estates like Beaulieu Park and Chelmer Village have parking bays close to the house. Business parks around the city have car parks a fitter can use with permission. Choose your spot, and your tyres are fitted, balanced and the old ones taken away.
Workshop fitting near Chelmsford
If you would rather take the car in, workshops on the network around Chelmsford show their distance and their fitted price before you book. A workshop suits an alignment check after a pothole.
