Driving in Northampton, and what it means for your tyres
Northampton sits right beside the M1 at junctions 15 and 16, and the A45 Nene Valley Way carries traffic from the motorway into the town and on towards Wellingborough. It is a commuter town for London, Milton Keynes and the Midlands, so plenty of local cars cover big distances at steady speed.
The town's distribution parks are some of the largest in the country, and the lorry traffic they bring wears road surfaces into ruts and potholes, especially on the approaches to the A45 and the A43. Uneven tread wear is a hint that the alignment needs a check.
Silverstone is about fifteen miles away, so race weekends bring heavy traffic on the A43. Northampton has no Clean Air Zone charge for drivers.
Mobile tyre fitting in Northampton
Northampton's suburbs mostly have drives or quiet roads, and the business and distribution parks around the M1 have large car parks where a fitter can work with permission. Choose the place, add any access notes, and the fitter brings the tyres, fits and balances them by the car and takes the old ones away.
