Driving in Bradford, and what it means for your tyres
Bradford's hills are serious. Roads out of the centre towards Allerton, Thornton, Queensbury and Wibsey climb hard, and the descents back into the city ask a lot of brakes and front tyres. In wet weather, which is often, tread depth is the difference between a controlled stop and a slide on a steep terraced street.
Winter comes early on the higher ground around Queensbury and Thornton, where snow and ice can settle when the centre is just wet. All-season tyres are a popular choice here for exactly that reason.
Bradford runs a Class C Clean Air Zone inside and around the outer ring road. Private cars are not charged, but older vans, taxis, buses and lorries can be. If you run a small business vehicle in the city, a mobile fitting can save a charged journey.
Mobile tyre fitting in Bradford
Much of Bradford is stone terraces on slopes, so a level spot matters. A drive, a flatter side street or a work car park is ideal. Tell us about the street when you book, and the fitter will bring the tyres, fit and balance them beside your car and take the old ones away.
Workshop fitting near Bradford
If your street is too steep for kerbside work, choose a workshop on the network. Each one shows its distance and its fitted price, and a garage is the place for alignment after a run-in with a pothole or kerb.
