Driving in Lisburn, and what it means for your tyres
Lisburn is a commuter city for Belfast, and the M1 between junctions 6 and 9 carries heavy traffic in both directions every day. The Sprucefield junction, where the A1 leaves for the south, is a busy shopping and traffic hub, and queues there are common at weekends.
Many residents also head south on the A1 towards Banbridge, Newry and across the border to Dublin, so their cars do plenty of fast dual carriageway miles. Tyre age and overall tread depth matter more than unusual wear on cars like these.
Lisburn has no Low Emission Zone charge, as there are none in Northern Ireland, and tyre condition is checked at the DVA MOT. The country roads towards Hillsborough, Moira and the Lagan valley are narrow and can be muddy in winter.
Mobile tyre fitting in Lisburn
Most Lisburn homes have drives, and the business parks around Sprucefield and the M1 have large car parks a fitter can use with permission. Choose your spot, and the fitter brings your tyres, fits and balances them by the car and takes the old ones away.
