Driving in Derry~Londonderry, and what it means for your tyres
The Foyle splits the city into the Cityside and the Waterside, and the Craigavon Bridge and the Foyle Bridge carry almost all the traffic between them. Both get busy at rush hour, and a fitter who comes to your side of the river saves a crossing.
The old city sits on a hill inside its walls, and the streets climbing to the Diamond and up through the Bogside and Creggan are steep, which is hard on front tyres and brakes in the wet. The A6 to Belfast has been upgraded in stages, and the A2 and A5 lead to the coast and to Strabane.
A lot of local drivers cross the border into Donegal for work or the weekend, where roads can be narrow, hilly and exposed to Atlantic weather. Northern Ireland has no Low Emission Zone charges, and tyre condition is checked at the DVA MOT.
Mobile tyre fitting in Derry~Londonderry
Many homes on the Waterside and in the newer estates have drives, while older terraces on the Cityside often do not. Choose a safe spot for the fitter, add any access notes, and your tyres are fitted, balanced and the old ones taken away without a trip across the bridge.
Workshop fitting near Derry~Londonderry
If kerbside fitting does not suit, choose a workshop on the network around the city. Each lists its distance and its fitted price before you book, and a garage is the right place for an alignment check.
