Driving in Glasgow, and what it means for your tyres
The M8 cuts through central Glasgow on elevated sections and over the Kingston Bridge, one of the busiest road bridges in Europe. Junctions come thick and fast, lanes split without much warning and the merges are short. It is hard on tyres and on nerves at rush hour.
Glasgow's Low Emission Zone covers the city centre, and unlike most English clean air zones it applies to private cars: a non-compliant vehicle driving in is fined. If your car does not meet the standards, a fitting at home or at work outside the zone avoids the problem entirely.
The city is hilly, built on drumlins, and streets in Garnethill, Park and Partick are steep and lined with tenements and parked cars. Add plenty of rain and you have a city where wet grip and good tread are what keep you safe.
Mobile tyre fitting in Glasgow
Much of Glasgow lives in tenements, so the best place for a mobile fitting is often a back court with vehicle access, a quiet side street or a work car park. Tell us where the car will be and how the fitter gets to it, and they will bring your tyres, fit and balance them and take the old ones away.
Workshop fitting near Glasgow
If kerbside work is not practical, choose a workshop on the network around Glasgow. Each one shows its distance and its fitted price before you book, and a garage is the right place for alignment.
