Driving in Middlesbrough, and what it means for your tyres
The A66 and the A19 meet just west of the town, and between them they carry most of Teesside's traffic, including heavy lorries heading to and from the port and the industrial sites along the river. Those roads see a lot of wear, and ruts and rough patches are common, which can show up as uneven wear on your tyres.
South of the centre, the A172 and the A174 take you out through Marton and Nunthorpe towards the moors. Roseberry Topping and the Cleveland Hills are close, and roads like the climb up to Great Ayton and the moorland routes beyond can be icy and windy in winter.
Middlesbrough has no Clean Air Zone charge for drivers. Wind off the North Sea makes winters raw on Teesside, so good tread and correct pressures matter for safe stopping.
Mobile tyre fitting in Middlesbrough
Most of Middlesbrough's suburbs, from Linthorpe to Coulby Newham, have drives or quiet streets, and the business parks at Teesside Park and along the A66 have car parks a fitter can use with permission. Choose your spot, and the fitter arrives with the tyres, fits and balances them and takes the old set away.
