Driving in Cheltenham, and what it means for your tyres
Cheltenham sits right under the Cotswold escarpment. Leckhampton Hill, Cleeve Hill on the B4632 and the A436 up towards the Air Balloon are steep, winding and exposed, and they can be icy when the town is just wet. Good tread matters on those climbs.
Race week in March brings enormous crowds to Prestbury Park, and the roads around the racecourse, the A435 and Evesham Road, slow to a crawl. Plenty of locals avoid driving anywhere that week, which makes it a sensible time for a fitter to come to you.
Cheltenham has no Clean Air Zone charge. The town links to the M5 at junctions 10 and 11, and many residents commute to Gloucester, Bristol or Birmingham, so the A40 and the motorway take up a good share of their miles.
Mobile tyre fitting in Cheltenham
Cheltenham's terraces and Regency streets can be tight for parking, but many homes in the suburbs have drives, and GCHQ, the business parks and the hospital have large car parks. Choose your spot, mention any access details, and the fitter brings your tyres, fits and balances them by the car and leaves with the old set.
