Driving in Worcester, and what it means for your tyres
The Severn splits Worcester in two, and the bridges across it are the city's great bottleneck. The Carrington Bridge on the southern link road carries most through traffic, and the Southern Link Road between it and the M5 has been widened to cope, but rush hour queues are still part of life.
The M5 runs along the east of the city at junctions 6 and 7, and many residents commute to Birmingham, Gloucester or Cheltenham. Fast motorway driving wears tyres steadily, so tread depth and tyre age are the things to watch.
The Severn floods regularly, often covering the racecourse and the cricket ground and closing riverside roads. Worcester has no Clean Air Zone charge, and the lanes towards the Malverns are narrow, winding and steep.
Mobile tyre fitting in Worcester
Most homes in Worcester's suburbs have drives, and the business parks at Shire Business Park and along the M5 have large car parks a fitter can use with permission. Choose your spot, add any access notes, and the fitter brings your tyres, fits and balances them where the car sits and takes the old ones away.
