Driving in Perth, and what it means for your tyres
Perth is the point where Scotland's motorways end and the Highland roads begin. The M90 crosses the Tay on the Friarton Bridge, and the A9 heads north from the city towards Pitlochry and Inverness. Long journeys on the A9 in all weathers are part of life for a lot of Perth drivers.
Perthshire winters can be hard. The A9 north of Dunkeld, the A93 to Blairgowrie and Braemar and the hill roads into Glen Shee regularly see snow and ice, and deer cross at dawn and dusk. Winter or all-season tyres make a real difference on those roads.
The Tay floods the North and South Inches regularly, and low lying roads around the city can close after heavy rain. Perth has no Low Emission Zone charge.
Mobile tyre fitting in Perth
Most homes in Perth's suburbs have drives or quiet streets, and the business parks at Inveralmond and Broxden have car parks a fitter can use with permission. Choose your spot, add any notes about access, and the fitter brings your tyres, fits and balances them and takes the old ones away.
