Driving in Lincoln, and what it means for your tyres
Steep Hill is so steep that most of it is closed to traffic, and the roads that climb between uphill and downhill Lincoln, like Lindum Hill and Canwick Hill, are hard on clutches, brakes and front tyres. In frost or snow they can be treacherous.
The Lincoln Eastern Bypass, opened in 2020, finally completed a ring around the city with the A46 western relief road. It takes a lot of traffic out of the centre, though the level crossings in the middle of town can still hold up journeys.
Beyond the city, Lincolnshire is flat and open, with long straight roads, deep dykes and fog that settles quickly on winter mornings. Good tread and correct pressures make a real difference on those roads. Lincoln has no Clean Air Zone charge.
Mobile tyre fitting in Lincoln
Most homes in Lincoln's suburbs have drives, and the business parks around the bypass and the university have car parks a fitter can use with permission. Choose your spot, add any access details, and the fitter brings your tyres, fits and balances them where the car is and takes the old ones away.
Workshop fitting near Lincoln
If you would rather visit a garage, workshops on the network around Lincoln show their distance and their fitted price before you book. A garage is the place for alignment work.
