Driving in Doncaster, and what it means for your tyres
Doncaster is a motorway city. The A1(M) runs along its western side, the M18 swings round to the east and the M180 heads off towards Scunthorpe and the Humber. Logistics parks along these roads bring heavy lorry traffic, and the surfaces show it, so watch for uneven tread wear and have the alignment checked if the car pulls.
The land around Doncaster is flat and low lying, and parts of the borough have flooded badly in the past, notably around Fishlake and Bentley in 2019. After heavy rain, take care on minor roads near the Don, where standing water can hide potholes.
Doncaster has no Clean Air Zone charge for drivers. The town has a long railway history and a lot of level crossings on its rural roads, which is worth knowing if you are driving the villages to the east.
Mobile tyre fitting in Doncaster
Most Doncaster suburbs have drives, and the logistics parks at the iPort, Carcroft and along the M18 have large car parks a fitter can use with permission. Choose your spot, and the fitter arrives with your tyres, fits and balances them where the car is and takes the old ones away.
Workshop fitting near Doncaster
If you would rather visit a garage, workshops on the network around Doncaster list their distance and their fitted price before you book. A workshop suits alignment work after a run on rough lorry routes.
