An installation van comes to your home or workplace and changes your tires on the spot, usually in under an hour. Here is exactly how it works, what you need, and when a shop is the better call.

The van comes to you
The installer arrives with your tires and a fully equipped van: jack, gun, balancer and new valves. You do not need any equipment, power or tools.
Mounted, balanced, torqued, done
Each wheel comes off, the new tire is mounted and balanced at the van, and wheels are torqued to the maker’s spec. Two tires typically take 30 to 45 minutes, and your old tires leave for recycling.
What you need on the day
A flat, safe parking spot the van can pull up next to, in your driveway, outside your house, or in a workplace lot with permission. Have the wheel lock key handy, and make sure the car is there for the whole slot. That is it: the van carries the tires, the balancer and everything else, and your old tires leave with the installer for recycling.
When mobile installation is the right call
You cannot easily get to a shop: a flat in the driveway, no spare, a packed work day, or small children at home. You know the size you need and the wheels are standard. You would rather lose no time at all than sit in a waiting room.
When a shop makes more sense
You suspect damage beyond the tire, the car pulls or vibrates, you want an alignment done in the same visit, or the car sits too low for a mobile jack. Shops have lifts and alignment rigs that a van cannot carry.

Is mobile installation more expensive than a shop?
Often the price is the same or close: you see the full installed price for both options before you book, so there is no guesswork. Any difference is shown upfront, never on the day.
How long does mobile tire installation take?
Around 30 to 45 minutes for two tires and about an hour for four, plus a few minutes of paperwork. You do not need to stand with the van, just be reachable.
What if it rains?
Normal rain is no problem: installers work in the weather all year. Only conditions that make the job unsafe, such as storms or ice on a sloped driveway, lead to a reschedule at no cost.
Can a mobile installer repair a flat instead?
Yes, when the damage is in the repairable central band of the tread. The installer inspects the tire first and will tell you honestly whether a safe repair is possible or a replacement is needed.
